The Legendary Story of the Villa Collection- Beauty Born from Nature’s Chemistry
Amid the smoke and fire of World War II, the battlefield’s rain of bullets not only changed the course of history but also left silent marks upon nature itself. Many battles took place deep within jungles, where young trees bore the impact of steel and gunpowder.
Decades later, when people returned to these forests, those saplings had grown into towering giants. Within their hearts, loggers discovered mesmerizing grain patterns—landscapes painted by time itself. Bullets once embedded in the trunks had fused their metallic elements with the tree’s sap, giving birth to extraordinary colors and textures.
Inspired by this miracle of history and nature, Europe’s top designers sought to replicate the effect. Through a process known as tannate staining, they learned to infuse wood with the same richness once gifted by the union of metal and sap.
In tannate staining, natural tannins within the wood react with iron salts, producing deep, evolving shades from weathered charcoal to glowing bronze. Unlike surface stains, these colors emerge from within—permanent, enduring, and as unique as a fingerprint.
Thus, the Villa Collection was born: a flooring masterpiece where every plank is history, nature, and art captured forever in every grain.
